1. What is ZED Certification?

ZED (Zero Defect Zero Effect) Certification is an initiative under the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, designed to help manufacturing MSMEs improve product quality, productivity, process efficiency and environmental performance.

The ZED framework encourages MSMEs to adopt systematic practices that minimize defects, reduce wastage and environmental impact, improve resource efficiency and enhance overall business competitiveness.

2. Who Can Apply for ZED Certification?

Manufacturing MSMEs registered with a valid Udyam Registration can participate in the MSME Sustainable (ZED) Certification Scheme and avail applicable benefits and incentives. ZED certification is a voluntary scheme and does not replace other statutory approvals, regulations or mandatory certifications.

3. ZED Certification Levels

The current MSME Sustainable (ZED) Certification framework provides three certification levels:

🥈 ZED Silver
Builds upon the Bronze level with stronger systems, process controls, quality management and sustainability practices.
